Child Sponsorship
Through the "EveryChild" Helping Children Worldwide the Company are able to sponsor a child from India. Believe it or not there are a staggering 10 Million children with disabilities in India with 90,000 living in Bangalore alone. There are also an astonishing 30 million street children in India with a shocking 60,000 also living in Bangalore. Many are orphans and run-aways who have been abandoned by their families or become lost in the big city.
The sponsorship is paid through the Nanna Goodu Project whose aim is to provide comprehensive support and assistance to children with disabilities and street children to bring about positive and lasting change in their lives.
The name of the child that we sponsor is a little girl called Nandini who was born on 9th August 1995. Nandini comes from a poor and needy family. She suffers from a physical disability with her right leg as a result from polio when she was younger. She studies in standard 6 of a local school. Nina is an active little girl who likes playing with her freinds. She lives with her parents in a small house with an asbestos sheet roof that has only one room, with no seperate kitchen or bathroom. Her father earns a daily wage working as a labourer and her mother as a housewife. Nadini's parents find it very difficult to provide for her and to pay for medicial attention she needs. Nadini lives in a community that lacks basic facilities such as safe drinking water and electricity, proper sanitation and drainage or primary health care facilities. Furthermore as in most other places, the roads and public buildings in this area are not accessible for people with disabillities. The community's negative attitude and lack of information about disability are the main reasons for the social separation of children like Nadini.
Our sponsorship through EveryChild will help provide this child with the necessary material, educational and welfare support for a better childhood and a more secure future.
