Welcome
It gives us great pleasure in welcoming you to our home on the internet.

The Right Angle Theatre Company was formed in 1990 by Derek Calder and Bill Harvey. Our initial project was in response to a request from the local district council who approached Bill and asked if he could present a show that could be taken on tour around various towns in the Scottish Borders. He accosted Derek in the street one day and after standing in the pouring rain for several hours discussing the possibility of this project - we were born!
The show selected for out first presentation was the Scottish Premier of Nunsense by Dan Goggin. We presented the show in Galashiels, Earlston, Tweedbank, Peebles and St Boswells, before returning to Galashiels to sell out preformances. In fact Nunsense was so popular that we reprised the production, again to sell out audiences, in 1991. Two weeks later we followed with "Stepping Out"- a play set is a tap dance class - something that proved a challenge for all involved. Once again "Nunsense" was revived in 1993 (The Maltings, Berwick Upon Tweed) and in 1994 (Galashiels) THat was then swiftly followed by the British Premier of "Nunsense 2 - The Second Coming".

The Right Angle Theatre Company has also been responsible for several popular revues. We celebrated VE Day with our "Radio Waves" - a revue utilising popular songs from first and second world wars, linking it all together with items of local history. "Those Were The Days" was a revue to celebrate the millennium and included songs from the past century, once again linked to items of local history.
The Right Angle Theatre Company were also contacted when a hospital Training video entitled "Way Out" - Fire Safety in Scottish Hospitals was being filmed at the Borders General Hospital. We were happy to provide the film company with a troupe of actors who had a most taxing weekend acting as patients and nurses.

In between these productions we also re-established the annual pantomime in Galashiels, which is growing ever popular. Productions include Aladdin, Dick Whittington, Puss in Boots, Jock in the Beanstalk, Cinderella.....to name a few. We are delighted to try to involve members of the local community in our Pantomimes and been proud to include members of Gala R.F.C. and various Braw Lads and Lasses over the years.
